Prohibition of popularity contests

(Prohibition against publication of popular votes)

Article 138-3 No person shall, with respect to an election, publicize the process or results of a popularity contest in which persons to be elected to public office (in the case of an election for members elected for proportional representation in the House of Representatives, the persons or the number of persons to be elected to public office pertaining to political parties or other political organizations, and in the case of an election for members elected for proportional representation in the House of Councillors, the persons or the number of persons to be elected to public office pertaining to political parties or other political organizations, or their ranking (2) The process or results of a popular vote that predicts (in the case of an election for members of the House of Councillors, the persons or the number of persons to be elected to public office pertaining to political parties or other political organizations, or their ranking) shall not be made public.

On Twitter, I asked, "Who would you vote for?" on Twitter. It was an interesting result, but it is illegal to write about the result because "the process or result must not be made public".
